Photoshop Tutorial (making jack-o’-lantern)

10/31 is Halloween!
So let’s create a horrible Jack-o’-lantern!
As always you can download PSD file at the end of the article:)

1. Create a head

First, Create a New Document that is 500 pixels by 500 pixels.
Then fill the background with a radial gradient like below.

Create a New Layer and add a ellipse with the Ellipse Tool (U) as a shape layer.

Add some layer styles like below.

This will be the main part of the pumpkin. Let’s call this layer “1″

Then copy “1″ layer two times and name them “2″ and “3″ and arrenge them behind the “1″ layer like below.

Duplicate the “1″ six times.
Create a New Group, name it “head” and put them in there.

2. Create a face

Next, let’s make face!
Create a new layer and add a shape layer using Pen Tool (P) and name it “mouth”. I’m going to choose the face like below but it’s not important. Try to create your own face!

Add some layer styles.

Create eyes and nose in same process.
Create a new layer group and name it “face” and put face layers there.

3. Add a stem

Create a stem using Pen Tool(P) and add leyer style like below.

Finally add a right using Pen Tool (P).
Create a new layer(name it “right”) and make path like this.

Then right click and select “Stroke Path”. (using pen tool)

3.Conclusion

Actually, I adjusted the brightness of the each parts. So please check the PSD file for details.
